As an aspiring model you will need to be healthy. Even if you are a plus size or older model you need to have the stamina mentally and physically to work as a model. If you are mentally tired you won't be able to respond to direction from a photographer or Art Director as readily. If you are physially tired you won't be able to handle the longer work day or the stress of odd hours.
Your goals should be a healthy body and mind. You can achieve that by eating right, exercising, and the wise use of supplements.
Healthy Eating Tips
Professional models believe in eating right, exercising regularly and sleeping well to achieve the high level of fitness required of professional models. Some models believe that they should not sit after eating a meal and always try to avoid carbohydrates like rice and wheat for dinner. Carbs, as they are often called, turn quickly to sugar in the body.
A good proactive is to eat salads, grilled vegetables or chicken, soups during dinner and make sure that you don’t eat too close to the time that you go to bed. The reason for this is that your body needs some time to digest whatever you have eaten. Simply stated; avoid carbohydrates after 7.30 p.m.
Regular exercise is also an important part of a healthy regime. Being active helps you to stay healthy, If you are healthy it shows in your body and your face when you are being filmed or photographed. Being active does not mean spending hours at the gym. There are many different ways you can get active and finding a way that works for your lifestyle and budget is important.
Whatever exercise regiment that you choose you will see benefits such as:
Improving your strength, fitness, and confidence. The latter is a key part of your modeling career.
Exercise shouldn't cause you pain, it can be fun and doesn't have to be organized or cost money.
Here are some suggestions that may help if you are wanting to start exercising:
Start Gradually - Try not to do too much too fast. You will likely hurt yourself and lose interest quickly. A fun rule is to be able to hold a conversation while exercising, but not sing. Any amount of exercise is beneficial. You can even start by using the stairs instead of the escalator or going for a 5 or 10 minute walk. You can increase the time later.
Exercise with a Friend - Having someone else may help to motivate you.
Make it a Routine - With all the stuff we do it is easy to miss out on doing something active. This will make it a part of your day and a better "habit" to form.
Try to Make it Fun - Being active shouldn't be a chore and choosing something you enjoy may make exercising fun. You may want to kick a football with friends, have a hit of tennis, go for a walk while listening to music or take the dog for a walk. Playing a team sport may mean you meet new people while also being active.
All of these will help you become more fit, feel better about yourself, and a more successful model.
